Capitol Hill Visits

SLI attendees will have the opportunity to advocate for the profession of pharmacy on Capitol Hill. Prior to SLI, APhA will work with designated student leaders to schedule the visits on behalf of attendees. To prepare all attendees to meet with their Congressional members, APhA-ASP hosted webinars with information on logistics, talking points, and tips for making your meeting a success.

APhA Opportunities Roundtable

Meet one-on-one with APhA Staff and APhA-ASP leaders to learn about the resources and opportunities available for you. 

National Mall Tour


The APhA-ASP National Executive Committee will be hosting an optional, walking tour of the National Mall for SLI attendees on Friday evening. Attendees will be divided into groups by Region for the tour.

  • Region 1 & 2: Grace Baek, APhA-ASP Speaker of the House
  • Region 3: Kelli Jo Welter, APhA-ASP National President-elect
  • Region 4: Nimit Jindal, APhA-ASP National President 
  • Region 5 & 7: Kara Provence, APhA-ASP National Member-at-large
  • Region 6: Mark Gilliam, APhA-ASP National Member-at-large
  • Region 8: Sydney Tu, APhA Carl F. Emswiller Summer Intern 

The tour will last approximately 2.5 hours from 7:15 pm to 10:30 pm, and will end at the Washington Plaza, the SLI2018 headquarter hotel. The total distance of the tour is roughly 3 miles. The tour will depart from APhA headquarters and stops will include:

  • Vietnam Veterans Memorial
  • Lincoln Memorial
  • Korean War Veterans Memorial
  • Reflecting Pool
  • World War II Memorial
  • Washington Monument
  • White House
